Sandblaster, 3M Settle Silicosis Claim on Eve of Trial

LOS ANGELES - A case involving the claims of a former sandblaster who underwent a double-lung transplant after being diagnosed with silicosis has settled one day before trial was expected to begin in California Superior Court. Mahar v. 3M Co., et al., No. BC328229 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).
Sources told HarrisMartin Publishing that plaintiff Rick Mahar and 3M Co., the lone defendant remaining in the case, reached a settlement agreement Dec. 12. Pre-trial proceedings were set to get underway Dec. 13 in Los Angeles, sources said. Terms of the agreement were not released.
