Judge Dismisses Majority of G-I Holdings Conspiracy Suit

NEW YORK - A federal judge has dismissed most of a lawsuit filed by a bankrupt asbestos company that accused three plaintiffs' law firms of engaging in an illegal scheme to, among other things, inundate the nation's courts with hundreds of thousands of meritless asbestos claims. G-I Holdings Inc. v. Baron & Budd, et al., No. 01cv0216 (S.D. N.Y.).

Portions of the suit filed by G-I Holdings in January 2001 were left intact, including claims of tortious interference with economic advantage and claims dealing with a breach of a futures agreement negotiated as part of the Georgine settlement. Both involve …
