Philadelphia Jury Awards Two Men $8.6 Million in Asbestos Case

PENNSYLVANIA - A jury in Philadelphia has awarded more than $8.6 million to the families of two men who died allegedly as a result of mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos-containing products. One of the plaintiffs wasn't diagnosed with the disease until after his death. Eck v. Congoleum Corp., No. 9912-2841 and Marsilio v. Congoleum Corp., No. 0012-3392 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).
Both verdicts were returned recently during the damages phase of a reverse-bifurcated trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The cases were settled before proceeding to the liability phase of the trial. Only one defendant, Congoleum …
