Plaintiff Says Surgeon Not Warned of Risks Posed by Zimmer’s Dual Modular Hip Implant

PHILADELPHIA — The plaintiff in a case involving Zimmer Inc.’s Kinectiv Technology hip implant system with a VerSys femoral head argues that her surgeon was not adequately warned of the risk of corrosion posed by the metal-on-metal interface and has since stopped implanting the system in patients.

In her July 13 opposition to Zimmer’s motion for summary judgment filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, plaintiff Marilyn Adams further contends Zimmer recklessly ignored the risks associated with dual modular implants, warranting an award of punitive damages.
