Iowa Supreme Court Affirms in Part Court Order Tossing Multi-Million Asbestos Verdict

DES MOINES, Iowa –– The Iowa Supreme Court has affirmed in part an intermediate appellate court order reversing a multi-million asbestos verdict, agreeing that statements made by the plaintiffs’ counsel violated a pre-trial court order.

In the June 1 order, the state’s highest court also weighed in on the inclusion, and exclusion, of certain bankrupt parties from the verdict form.

The plaintiffs asserted the claims on behalf of Larry Kinseth, contending that the decedent’s work in the heating and plumbing industry required him to tear out old boilers and install new ones in both residential and commercial applications.
