Mo. Federal Court Won’t Reconsider Order Dismissing Defendants in Asbestos Case for Lack of Jurisdiction

ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri federal court has denied plaintiff efforts to reconsider an earlier order dismissing several asbestos defendants for lack of jurisdiction, ruling that the U.S. Supreme Court’s BMS decision on jurisdiction did not warrant reconsideration of its prior holding.

In the Jan. 11 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri noted that the high court had found that it was not enough for a defendant to have a general connection with the forum, but that there must be a connection between the forum and the specific claims at issue.
