Missouri Federal Court Grants J&J’s Motion to Stay Proceedings in Removed Talc Case

ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri federal court has granted a defense motion to stay the proceedings in a talcum powder case, noting the decision is “in accordance with the practice of this court.”

In doing so, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri noted in its Dec. 5 motion that motions to stay have been granted in at least six other talcum powder cases removed to the federal level.

Seventy-eight plaintiffs are involved in the underlying action, with each one contending that they developed ovarian cancers as a result of using Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder products. …
