Texas Federal Jury Finds for Ethicon, J&J at Conclusion of Transvaginal Mesh Trial

HOUSTON — A Texas federal jury found in favor of Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson at the conclusion of a transvaginal mesh trial, finding the device did not have a design defect that contributed to the plaintiff’s alleged injuries.

On Nov. 9 the jury, sitting in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, rejected plaintiff Cheryl Lankston’s argument that the device’s Prolene polypropylene mesh caused her to suffer complications following implantation. Judge Vanessa D. Gilmore presided over the trial.
