Munich Re Opposes Alabama Insurer’s Efforts to Arbitrate $1.3 Million Reinsurance Dispute

MOBILE, Ala. — Munich Reinsurance America Inc. has opposed Alabama Municipal Insurance Corp.’s efforts to arbitrate a $1.3 million reinsurance dispute, arguing that the reinsurance contract at issue in the litigation does not include an arbitration clause.

In a June 8 opposition filed before Judge W. Harold Albritton of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, Munich Re further asserts that it would be prejudiced by a stay of litigation because it has already expended considerable time and expense answering the pleadings, reviewing documents, and preparing depositions.
