Braun, Aesculap’s Allegedly Defective IVC Filter Caused Death, New N.C. Lawsuit Says
April 3, 2017
STATESVILLE, N.C. — The widow of a man who had been implanted with an allegedly defective VenaTech LP IVC filter has sued the makers of the device, claiming they knew it was defectively designed and unsafe, yet did not warn doctors that it could fracture and migrate, causing injury and death.
The complaint was filed March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina against the device’s manufacturers, B. Braun Medical Inc. and Aesculap Inc., and lists claims of negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty, fraud, and misrepresentation.
