Parties Remaining in Asbestos Case Reach Settlement Resolution Weeks Before Scheduled Trial

NEW ORLEANS –– Parties remaining in an asbestos personal injury suit have reached a settlement agreement weeks before trial in the matter was scheduled to begin, according to an order issued by the Louisiana court overseeing the case.

In a March 24 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said that it had been advised by the magistrate judge that the “parties have firmly agreed upon a compromise.”

As such, the court dismissed the case without prejudice, “upon good cause shown within 60 days, to reopen the action if settlement is not consummated.”
