Allianz Moves to Dismiss R&Q’s N.Y. Reinsurance Action on Forum Non Conveniens Grounds

NEW YORK — Allianz Insurance Co. has moved to dismiss on forum non conveniens grounds a lawsuit in which R&Q Reinsurance Co. seeks rescission of two facultative certificates issued to Allianz, arguing that the dispute lacks the requisite connection with New York.

In an affirmation in support of Allianz’s motion to dismiss, Allianz’s counsel, Philip C. Semprevivo, argues that the lawsuit does not belong in the New York County Supreme Court and should be adjudicated in California federal court.
