Parties in Benzene Case Support Entry of Final Judgment after Trial Ended in $3.5 Million Verdict

DAVENPORT, Iowa –– Both parties in a benzene case that recently ended trial with a $3.5 million verdict have filed reply briefs supporting their respective motions for entry of final judgment, with the plaintiffs arguing that the defendants’ post-trial briefing is “replete with misrepresentations of the record.”

Meanwhile, in a brief also filed May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, the defendants maintained that the court should enter a take-nothing judgment in the case, given that the evidence presented at trial is legally insufficient to support the verdict.
