Insurer Says Country Club’s Claims for $10.8 Million in Storm-Related Damage Are Fraudulent

TRENTON, N.J. — An insurer is disclaiming coverage for $10.8 million in claims submitted by a country club for alleged storm-related damage, alleging that the claims are fraudulent and that the damage was preexisting.

The insurer, Affiliated FM Insurance Co., has asserted counterclaims for declaratory judgment and fraud-related damages in response to the country club’s lawsuit, which is pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Affiliated FM has also filed a 3rd party complaint against the country club’s owner, Metairie Corp., in which it asserts the same allegations.
