Colo. Federal Judge Enters $350,000 Judgment in Biomet Shoulder Implant Action

DENVER — A Colorado federal judge has entered a $350,000 judgment in favor of a plaintiff in a Biomet shoulder implant action, finding that the manufacturer made a timely offer of judgment, which the plaintiff accepted.

In a Feb. 4 order, Judge Robert E. Blackburn of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado dismissed the action, which had been scheduled to begin trial on Feb. 29.

In September 2009, Alonso Alarid underwent shoulder surgery during which his surgeon implanted a Comprehensive Reverse Shoulder System in his left shoulder. The device was implanted in Alarid’s right shoulder in July …
