Calif. Appellate Court Denies Petition for Writ of Mandate in DePuy ASR Hip Coordinated Docket

SAN FRANCISCO –– A California appellate court has denied a petition for writ of mandate in a case in which the trial court overseeing the state’s coordinated docket for DePuy ASR hip implant claims recently granted the plaintiffs’ motion for a preferential trial setting.

The writ of mandate was denied in a one-page order issued on Dec. 10 by the California 1st District Court of Appeal.

Plaintiff William Lansbury, 85, asserted the claims after his surgeon implanted him with the DePuy ASR hip device. After the surgery, the plaintiff said he began to suffer “debilitating hip pain and limited mobility.” ...
