Court Declines to Overturn Decision Denying Compensation

RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina Court of Appeals has rejected a workers' compensation appeal by a copier service technician who was denied benefits for what one physician diagnosed as neurotoxicity and cardiotoxicity from exposure to manganese and other workplace chemicals. >Lumamba v. Technocom Business Systems, et al., No. COA08-61 (N.C. Ct. App.).

The court said in an unpublished opinion on Oct. 7 that the Industrial Commission did not err in relying in finding contrary medical opinions more persuasive.

Appellant Mulamba Lumamba used cleaning products and various chemicals while repairing, cleaning and refurbishing copiers, printers and fax machines.
