OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington state's Supreme Court has upheld a $4.8 million verdict for 11 pipe fitters who alleged they were wrongfully discharged from jobs at a nuclear power station after reporting suspected safety violations or supporting those who did report them. Brundridge v. Fluor Fed. Servs. Inc., No. 80735-3 (Wash. Sup. Ct.).

The high court held on Sept. 4 that there was no evidentiary error warranting a new trial and that the pipe fitters' employer waived its right to argue that the plaintiffs could not show that the alleged wrongful conduct jeopardized the public policy implicated by the conduct. …
