Court Agrees to Review Girlfriend's Standing to Bring Silica Case

JACKSON, Miss. - A state Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal of a decision that permitted a deceased sandblaster's former girlfriend to file a wrongful death complaint on his behalf. Pangborn Corp., et al. v. Kelley, No. 2008-M-01437-SCT (Miss. Sup.).

In a one-page order issued Sept. 18, the Mississippi Supreme Court granted the defendant's motion for interlocutory appeal of the Warren County Circuit Court decision and stayed all proceedings in the matter pending a decision by the high court.
