CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A West Virginia judge has ordered plaintiff Bemis Baldwin, whose case is nearing trial, to appear for a fluorodopa-PET scan, which defendants contend can differentiate between cases of manganism from exposure to welding fumes, which Baldwin claims, and Parkinson's disease. Baldwin v. Lincoln Electric Co., et al., No. 03-C-3220 (W.Va. Cir. Ct., Kanawha Cty.).

Kanawha County (W.Va.) Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman granted a motion by ESAB Group and its co-defendants on Feb. 15 and ruled for defendants again on Feb. 29 on Baldwin's motion to reconsider, ordering the plaintiff to undergo testing before March 17.
