GULFPORT, Miss. - A jury has awarded $2.9 million to a welding fume plaintiff in the latest MDL case to go to trial, HarrisMartin is reporting. Jowers v. Arcos Industries, L.L.C., et al., No. 1:08-CV-00036-KMO-JMR [formerly No. 1:03-CV-17000, N.D. Ohio][MDL No. 1535, N.D. Ohio] (S.D. Miss.).

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi jury reached the verdict on March 6 after deliberating for two days.

The jury awarded Robert Jowers $1.2 million in compensatory damages and $1.7 million in punitive damages. Lincoln Electric and the ESAB Group Inc. were assessed $750,000 each in punitive damages while the …
