Ill. Appellate Court Hears Argument Over Vacated Defense Verdict

VERNON, Ill. - Illinois' 5th District Court of Appeals on Feb. 7 heard argument from parties to a vacated defense verdict, with defendants contending that the trial court erred in ordering a new trial for alleged discovery violations. Winterman v. BOC Group, et al., No. 5-06-0679 (Ill. Ct. App., 5th Dist.).
The appeal stems from a trial court's decision to vacate a December 2005 verdict in which jurors found that the defendants were not liable for Steven Boren's Parkinson's disease, which he claimed was caused by exposure to manganese-containing welding fumes.
