PHILADELPHIA - A South Carolina man who claims he was exposed to silica at a foundry in New York that received sand from a New Jersey-based supplier has filed a silicosis complaint in Pennsylvania. Parker v. New Jersey Silica Sand Co., et al., No. March Term 2007 003947 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).
According to a lawsuit transferred May 8 to the mass tort division of the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, Michael Parker was diagnosed with silicosis by his treating physician, who has also testified that Parker has one year to live as a result of his condition.
