NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Nearly 40 defendants were recently served with more than 30 complaints filed by former foundry workers in Virginia who claim that they developed silicosis as a result of exposure to dust. Bowers v. American Air Liquide Corp., et al., No. 01192-PT (Va. Cir. Ct., Newport News).
The three-count complaints, filed in Newport News Circuit Court, seek $4 million in compensatory and punitive damages from "each and every" defendant for their alleged role in conspiring to hide the dangers of silica exposure for decades.
