Company Fined for Screening Silica Claimants Without License

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has levied an $80,500 fine against a New Jersey-based company for conducting X-ray screenings for prospective silica plaintiffs without prior approval from state health officials.
DEP officials made the announcement Feb. 7, months after learning about the allegedly unauthorized screenings conducted by MOST Health Services Inc of Voorhees, N.J. Allegations that MOST conducted illegal screenings in 2002 came to light nearly three years later when defendants in the Philadelphia silica litigation moved to dismiss the claims on the ground that they were generated as a result of the illegal screenings.
