Defendants File Opposition to Class Certification in MDL Lawsuit

CLEVELAND -- Calling it an "unprecedented" request, defendants in the Welding Fume Products Liability MDL Litigation have asked the court to deny certification of a proposed class action lawsuit. In re: Welding Fume Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 1535 (N.D. Ohio).
The Feb. 16 opposition, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, says the plaintiffs have asked the court to certify a class "consisting of an entire profession and order medical monitoring for a vague array of ill-defined symptoms that have not been recognized as an illness by the medical community."
