Silica Defendant Sues Travelers, Alleges Bad Faith over Handling of Claims

DALLAS - A defendant named in numerous silica personal injury claims has sued its insurer, alleging it acted in bad faith by acknowledging its duty to defend, but refusing to reimburse the company for the costs of litigating the cases. Tronox v. The Travelers Indemnity Co., No. 06-1835 (N.D. Texas).
Tronox maintains in an Aug. 17 complaint filed in Dallas County District Court that Travelers Indemnity Co. and its affiliates failed to fulfill their defense obligations pursuant to various policies the insurers issued to the company.
