U.S. Senate Committee Holds Second Hearing on Silicosis Screenings

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Federal lawmakers recently heard a second round of testimony from health officials in an investigation into screening practices for silica claims that was announced by a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives last year.
The June 6 hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee followed a meeting conducted in March where several physicians who read X-rays of patients who later went on to sue for silica-related injuries opted to assert their Fifth Amendment rights and refused to testify before the group.
