U.S. House Committees Demand Screening Information from Silica Lawyers WASHINGTON, D.C.- The chairmen of two congressional committees sent letters to 13 law firms on Feb. 17 demanding information on their role in medical screenings underlying their clients' silicosis claims. The letters were sent today by Reps. Joe Barton, R-Texas, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
