S.C. Legislature Introduces Silica Medical Criteria Bill COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina has become the latest state to introduce legislation limiting the types of asbestos and silica claims that can be filed in its courts and who can file them. A bill introduced Jan. 12 in the State Senate would restrict plaintiffs from filing lawsuits based on asbestos or silica exposure unless the claimant meets a specific set of medical criteria established by the Legislature.
