TB Drug May Cure Parkinson's Disease Symptoms

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In a recent Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine study, researchers from Purdue University concluded that a Tuberculosis drug may be effective in treating Parkinson's disease-like symptoms.
The study, "Effective Treatment of Manganese-Induced Occupational Parkinsonism With p-Aminosalicylic Acid: A Case of 17-Year Follow-Up Study," (JOEM. 48(6):644-649, June 2006) examined a 50-year-old female who had been exposed to airborne manganese from 1963 to 1984. The authors said the patient had palpitations, hand tremor, lower limb myalgia, hypermyotonia and a distinct festinating gait.
