Judge Enters Initial CMO in Florida Silica Litigation

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A Florida judge who recently stated he would 'ride herd' on the silica cases pending before him out of concern for the economic cost of litigating potentially questionable claims has entered a case management order that will govern the nearly 100 cases. In Re: Silica Litigation, Case No. 05-40000 (Fla. Cir. Ct., Broward Cty.).
The Case Management Order was entered Feb. 7 by Broward County Circuit Court Judge David Krathen and lays the ground rules and schedule for discovery in the silica claims that have been consolidated before the court.
