Calif. Special Master Recommends Denial of Parkinson's Disease Motion

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Special Master overseeing the coordinated California welding fume litigation has recommended that the court adopt the decision of the federal MDL to deny the defendants' motion seeking preclusion of testimony that manganese causes Parkinson's disease. In re: Welding Product Cases, JCCP 004368 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).
Sources said Judge Owen Lee Kwong's recommendation was released to the parties Dec. 5. Judge Kwong was appointed by the Alameda Superior Court to oversee the coordinated California litigation and attended the Parkinson's disease MDL hearings, the recommendation noted.
