Dozens of New Silica Complaints Filed in California State Court

OAKLAND, Calif. - About 30 new complaints have been filed in California state court by plaintiffs who claim they developed silica-related injuries as a result of their exposure to dust a locations throughout the Bay Area. Cleveland, et al. v. Lone Star Industries Inc., No. 05-210483 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).
The lawsuits, filed April 26 in Alameda County Superior Court, each name numerous defendants the plaintiffs contend are responsible for causing their silica-related injuries.
According to one complaint, plaintiff Raymond Cleveland was exposed to silica while sandblasting for four employers in the Oakland/San Francisco area from 1945 through 1956. …
