Summary: Researchers compared the severity of disease at compensation between workers enrolled in a medical surveillance program and those who were not. Clinical data from 1,388 compensated silicotic workers in Quebec were analyzed. The predicted vital capacity at less than 80 percent at compensation was less likely among workers who were under surveillance than among those who were not followed, according to the results.
