A self-described "plaintiff's guy, through-and-through," the 36-year-old Cansler joined the law firm of Brent Coon & Associates in February 2002 after working for several years under Joe Tonahill, the Jasper, Texas, attorney who defended Jack Ruby against murder charges stemming from the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963.
