Jury Returns Verdict for Parmelee in Texas Silicosis Case

GALVESTON, Texas - A jury in Texas has returned a verdict for Parmelee Industries Inc. in a case filed by a former sandblaster who claimed he was exposed to silica while wearing a respirator manufactured by the company. Salazar v. Lone Star Industries, et al., No. 02-CV-1434 (Texas Dist. Ct., Galveston Cty.).
Jurors in the 56th District Galveston County Court returned the verdict this afternoon following a week-long trial before Judge Lonnie Cox.
Sources told HarrisMartin Publishing that plaintiff Antonio Salazar sued Parmelee for negligence and strict liability for failing to warn him of the silicosis risks associated with sandblasting. …
