International Group of Researchers Proposes Criteria for Mixed-Dust Pneumoconiosis

photo-1Researchers from around the country have published an article in a leading medical journal that seeks to narrow the definition of mixed dust pneumoconiosis based on pathologic descriptions of the lungs of patients occupationally exposed to crystalline silica and nonfibrous silicates.
In a paper published in the December issue of Human Pathology, the team of researchers describes the parameters for identifying mixed dust pneumoconiosis in light of confusion and ambiguity the researchers say remain in defining the condition.
