CHICAGO -- The Illinois 5th Judicial District Appellate Court has set oral arguments for March 1 in the appeal of the landmark $1 million welding rod verdict. Elam v. Lincoln Electric, et al., No. 5-04-0120 (Ill. App. Ct., 5th Jud. Dist.).
In a Jan. 28 letter to counsel, the Illinois Appellate Court allotted 20 minutes for each party to make their argument, scheduled to begin midday.
The order setting argument came shortly after the court took under advisement a motion by defendants to strike plaintiff's response brief in the appeal of the nation's first welding rod verdict. Sources said …
