EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- A boilermaker has filed a welding rod lawsuit in Illinois, alleging that the various manufacturing and distributing defendants ignored years of studies indicating a link between central nervous system injury and manganese-containing welding fumes. Moore v. Airco, et al., No. n/a (Ill. Cir. Ct., Madison Cty.).
In a lawsuit filed Jan. 21 in the Illinois Circuit Court for Madison County, plaintiff Roy Moore argues that since 1985 certain defendants have admitted in materials such as Material Safety Data Sheets that manganese in welding fumes could cause central nervous system (CNS) damage.
