The following are excerpts taken from the testimony of C. Warren Olanow, M.D., in Elam v. BOC Group. In October 2003, an Illinois jury determined that exposure to welding fumes contributed to plaintiff Larry Elam's Parkinson's disease, and awarded him $1 million, resulting in the first plaintiff's verdict in the nation.
