$485,000 Mediated Settlement Reached in Sandblasting Exposure Case

FRESNO, Calif. -- A woman who sued several contractors alleging exposure to concrete dust from sandblasting activities conducted near her workplace will receive nearly $500,000 as a result of a recent settlement. Nelson v. Mauldin-Dorfmeier, et al., No. 03CECG01460 (Calif. Super. Ct., Fresno Cty.).
According to sources, the $485,000 settlement was reached June 8 following mediation between Plaintiff Kay Nelson and companies hired to conduct sandblasting near the main entrance of the airport where Nelson worked. Judge Hilary Chittick of the Fresno County Superior Court had been overseeing the proceedings.
