OKMULGEE, Okla. - About 70 plaintiffs who claim they were exposed to silica while working in various facilities have sued dozens of defendants in Oklahoma, seeking damages for their alleged injuries. Sides, et al. v. Mohawk Materials Company, Inc., et al., No. 2004-502 (Okla. Dist. Ct., Okmulgee Cty.).
The complaint, filed July 8 in Okmulgee County Superior Court, names 42 manufacturers and suppliers of silica-related products and respiratory devices, alleging that they failed to warn plaintiffs of the dangerous characteristics and serious health hazards associated with silica exposure.
