Former Johns-Manville Workers File Lawsuit in West Virginia for Silica-Related Injuries

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - Several former employees of a Johns Manville glass factory have sued their employer and dozens of additional defendants in West Virginia, alleging that they developed silica-related injuries as a result of dust exposures at the facility. Argabrite v. Allied Mineral Products, Inc., et al., No. 04-C-322 (W.Va. Cir. Ct., Wood Cty.).
In a lawsuit filed May 20 in Wood County Circuit Court, the plaintiffs and their spouses allege that Johns Manville acted deliberately in specifying the use of silica-containing materials and exposing workers to silica at the Vienna, W.Va., plant.
