Welding Defendants Move to Preclude Parkinson's Testimony

CLEVELAND -- Defendants in the welding rod products liability MDL have filed a motion asking that MDL Judge Kathleen M. O'Malley exclude all testimony claiming that welding fumes cause or accelerate the onset of Parkinson's disease. In re: Welding Rod Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 1535 (N.D. Ohio).
Filed June 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the defendants argue that admitting such testimony would violate federal rules of expert admissibility, as no peer-reviewed studies have indicated a link between welding rod fumes and Parkinson's disease.
