BEAUMONT, Texas - Defendant 3M Company on May 11 removed a Texas state court silica action to federal court just as jury selection was to begin in the case. Salts v. 3M Company, et al., No. 02-0294 (E.D. Texas, Beaumont Div.).
The removal notice was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas as the parties prepared for voir dire in the case filed by Robert Salts, who alleged that he was injured as a result of his exposure to silica dust.
