CLEVELAND - More than 100 welding fume product liability claims against Metropolitan Life were recently dismissed with prejudice after an Ohio Common Pleas judge held that the plaintiffs did not have a 'special relationship' with the insurance company. In Re: Welding Rod Civil Actions. Consolidated Case No. 531703 (Ohio Ct. of Common Pleas, Cuyahoga Cty.).
On Feb. 15, Justice Francis E. Sweeney of the Court of Common Pleas of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, granted Met Life's motions for judgment on the pleadings, dismissing with prejudice 116 lawsuits against the company.
