CHESTER, S.C. - A North Carolina resident has sued several companies in South Carolina alleging that he developed injuries as a result of their exposure to silica while working as a maintenance mechanic for nearly 30 years. Reid v. American Optical Corporation, et al., No. 2004-CP-12-059 (S.C. Comm. Pls., Chester Cty.).
In a complaint filed Feb. 6 in Chester County Court of Common Pleas, James Reid alleges that while working for various employers at sites throughout the Carolinas, he was exposed to silica and eventually developed silicosis.
