ALICE, Texas - A silica case expected to go to trial this week in Texas has settled after the trial court judge granted a motion to sever the claims of the six plaintiffs, who defendants said had alleged exposure to silica under uncommon circumstances. Aldapa, et al. v. Dalloz Safety, Inc., et al., No. 03-05-41409 (Texas Dist. Ct., Jim Wells Cty.).
According to sources, the case was resolved in a confidential settlement Oct. 25, just as jury selection was expected to get underway in Jim Wells County District Court before Judge Richard Terrell.
