Family Claims Silica Caused Man's Glandular Cancer, Suicide

WITCHITA FALLS, Texas - The family of a former kiln operator who allegedly contracted glandular cancer as a result of his silica exposure, then killed himself after receiving a terminal prognosis, has sued several sand suppliers, equipment manufacturers and the Texas company where he worked. Kelley v. Delphia Automotive Services, et al., No. 03-00189 (N.D. Texas).
In a complaint filed in Witchita County District Court, the family of Charles Kelley alleges that the simultaneous wrongful acts and of all defendants, and their conspiracy to cover up the dangers associated with silica exposure, resulted in Kelley's injuries and subsequent death.
